Core Audience & Targeting

Core Audiences is the default Facebook targeting option, and it enables advertisers to reach people based on demographics, locations, interests, behaviours and connections. Targeting happens at the ad set level and audience section. You can separate audiences into separate ad sets when you bid differently to reach each one.

Each targeting option enables advertisers to target ads to people based on demographics, location, interests and behaviours.

Location
Reach people in cities, countries and communities where you want to do business. You can adjust the size of the radius for the level geographic specificity you prefer.

Demographic
Reach people based on demographics such as age, gender, education, relationship status, workplace, and job titles.

Interests
Reach people based on consumer and lifestyle categories, such as fitness, fashion or specific hobbies.

Behaviour
Reach people based on their purchase habits, device usage and other activities.

Connections
Reach people based on audience engagement with your Page, Events or the Facebook app.

Targeting by device
Device usage is another important targetable behaviour. Under Digital Activities, you can create ads to include or exclude people by desktop browser and operating system. Likewise, under Mobile Device User, you can include or exclude people by mobile device.
